Selective Hearing

This story is a testament to the power of networking and seizing opportunities, even in the most unexpected places.

So, picture this: I had just finished an intense hour on the stair stepper and sweating a fuck ton.

As I was walking down the stairs, I noticed a Rolls Royce Cullinan and a Ghost in the parking lot, both with custom license plates.

Right away, I knew some wealthy individuals were around, and I decided to keep my eyes open for a chance to strike up a conversation.

After my workout, I headed to the sauna for a 20-minute session.

Inside, there were three other guys: an Indian guy, another man, and a third guy who wasn’t really part of the conversation.

The Indian guy started chatting with a white guy wearing a fancy gold bracelet.

As they talked, it turned out the white guy owned the Cullinan. He ran a branding agency for Shopify stores and had his own e-commerce brand.

This guy was young and already super successful.

Naturally, I saw this as my chance to learn from someone who had achieved what I aspire to.

As the Indian guy left, I took the opportunity to dive into a conversation with the successful guy, lets just say his name was Ryan.

We talked about his business, his journey, and how he got to where he is. I even dropped a bit about my own experience, including my time working for Tate as a sales manager, to keep the conversation engaging and show that I had some relevant background.

Then, out of nowhere, another regular at Lifetime barged into our conversation.

This guy was fat asf and had a lot to say.

He started giving irrelevant advice about needing a degree as a safety net, after I said I had dropped out of university.

His rambling went on and on, covering politics and immigration, and it was clear he was driving Ryan away.

Ryan eventually left the sauna, but I wasn’t going to let this chance slip away.

I quickly finished my session and caught up with him in the locker room. I introduced myself properly and asked for his contact information.

Right away, Ryan told me not to listen to the other guy's advice and to only take advice from those who have proven success.

This encounter reminded me of an essential lesson: everyone can give advice, but not all advice is worth taking.

You need to be selective about who you listen to, focusing on those who have real achievements and knowledge.

It’s amazing how a chance encounter in a sauna can lead to valuable connections and insights.

Remember, opportunities can come from anywhere, and persistence pays off.

Keep your eyes open, be ready to engage, and always seek advice from those who have the results you want to achieve.
